Open paddocks still dominated much of the countryside around Five Dock and Ramsay’s Bush in the 1870’s. This was an area of tin and hessian shanties and where gypsies camped. Dr Ramsay’s estate ‘Dobroyde’ extended from Iron Cove Creek to what is now Haberfield.
Haberfield today is well known for a number of large and original Federation homes and wonderful Italian fare with many delicatessens and family restaurants.
